Encontrarte en el arte / Finding Yourself in Art @ Cariño Film Festival

  • OPEN Center for the Arts 2214 South Sacramento Avenue Chicago, IL, 60623 United States (map)

Join us for an unforgettable experience at Finding Yourself In Art at the Cariño Film Festival! Inspired by Laura Sáenz's captivating film, Artista, produced by Full Spectrum Features as part of the Community Storytellers program, this event is designed for teaching artists, families, and the vibrant Little Village/Telpochcalli school community.

This immersive event features a hands-on map-making activity, along with a screening of the film, Artista. After the film, we’ll have a "Listening Party," where you can hear stories from educators right here in Chicago, sharing their unique insights and experiences.

The event will culminate in an engaging bilingual panel discussion, featuring an educator from Telpochcalli School, a parent from the Telpochcalli Community Education Project, and a student from Telpochcalli School. Together, they will highlight the incredible benefits and practical applications of weaving the arts into teaching and parenting.

Food and drinks will be provided courtesy of Yvolinda’s Tamales. Films will have Spanish open captions.

This event is part of the Community Storytellers (CST) program at Full Spectrum Features, which is partially supported by a Together We Heal Creative Place grant from the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs & Special Events, the Mayor's Office of Equity and Justice, and done in partnership with Latinos Progresando.
